Term 3, 2022

Classes begin on Monday 25th July

Welcome to Term 3!

Over the years we have run a number of different art programmes during the term, our themes have changed, our projects have been different and our artists have certainly let us know which ones they have loved the most. For this terms art programme we have decided to revisit our most loved themes and teach them all over again. It’s going to be a wonderful term of celebrating the best of the best.

To celebrate our term of creativity we are excited to announce an art exhibition at the end of term three. More information about our exhibition will be sent out during the term.

Health and Safety

Health and Safety

It was wonderful news to hear that we are now at Orange Light, well done everyone.

-At Marbles we will continue to have hand sanitiser available for all students and face masks available for those artists who wish to wear them but forget to bring one. I will continue to wear a face mask and do everything I can to keep our artists safe.

- If any of our artist’s are sick, please keep them at home.

- My family and I are double vaccinated and I am pleased to report that we have received our booster shots as well.

Fingers crossed we move to Green Light soon 😊

Have a safe and wonderful day everyone.

Warm regards,

Ruth Christy

Ages 5-11 are recommended to join our 3:15 sessions
A late class is available each day for older students

PLEASE NOTE 〰️ NEW START TIME FOR LATE CLASSES 〰️

Please note that there has been a time change due to daylight savings. Late classes will now start at the earlier time of 4.00pm and run until 5.30pm. This will give the older artists time to get home before it gets too dark. Artists coming from schools out of Devonport will be given more time in class if their bus arrives late.
Parents will be notified if this occurs.

IT’S YOUR CHOICE

It’s your choice has certainly been a favourite amongst our artists. The ability to take ownership and choose whatever you want to create in art remains one of our most treasured themes. We are so excited to offer ‘It’s Your Choice’ again for those artists who love this theme the most. Do you want to build, sketch or paint whatever they want? If so this is definitely the class for you. This terms class enables the artist to plan and create their favourite works of art. This programme is often only offered to the older artists who attend the late class sessions HOWEVER we feel that it is time for the younger artists to have the same opportunity. If creating and making your own work of art is exactly what you want to do then this is the class for you.

THE HOBBIT

Several years ago when Marbles was in its earliest days we offered a programme dedicated to the world of Hobbits. We created incredible villages of hobbit houses made out of coconut shells and it was a hit. To date it has been our most popular term programme. We are over the moon to be offering this amazing programme again. Artists who sign up will build their own hobbit villages complete with everything they can imagine. I am so excited about this day.

LET’S CLAY ALL DAY

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to spend the afternoon making a range of amazing clay models? We think it would be fabulous. The artists who sign up to this class will receive air dry clay to mould whatever they want. Favourite animals, jewellery, special bowls and boxes, decorations, tiles and everything else you can imagine. This is a lovely programme designed to capture every student's love of moulding with clay.

DIGITAL ART

Creating digital art is a new and exciting programme running this year at Marbles. We know how important it is for our artists to be aware of and have access to the many different ways art is created. There are amazing art apps available out there in the world and we thought it was about time that we included some of these in our classes. To help us deliver this new and exciting programme we have employed one of our most knowledgeable and talented artists Kathryn Reid. We welcome her to the Marbles teaching team. Artists who sign up to this class will be provided with everything they need to create incredible digital works of art. If your child has their own iPad please send this along with them to the classes as they will be able to continue works started in art at home. Please note that there will be iPads available in class for those artists who do not have one.

Please note that there has been a time change due to daylight savings. Late classes will now start at the earlier time of 4.00pm and run until 5.30pm.

WEEKS 1-5: TIKI

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to spend the afternoon making a range of amazing clay models? We think it would be fabulous. The artists who sign up to this class will receive air dry clay to mould whatever they want. Favourite animals, jewellery, special bowls and boxes, decorations, tiles and everything else you can imagine. This is a lovely programme designed to capture every student's love of moulding with clay.

WEEKS 6-10: ABSTRACT ART

Amazing abstract art has always been a favourite theme amongst our artists. The students love blending and shading shapes that create incredible works of art. Spend the second part of term being Kandinsky’s apprentice. Lets get abstracting!

LET’S PAINT

Last week I asked the artists of our Thursday class what projects they loved the most while coming to Marbles and their response was painting. This term we are delighted to offer a class that allows the artists to paint all the things they love. There will be many surfaces available for the artists to paint on which is really exciting! This is certainly going to be an amazing term.

IT’S YOUR CHOICE / DIGITAL ART

Wouldn’t it be great to attend a class that allowed you to draw, paint, build or create whatever you wanted? This small late class allows you to do just that. Paint like the old art masters, build an enchanted place from a favourite book, create a work of art using a variety of mixed media, use watercolour paints to paint an incredibly detailed scene or sketch the most extraordinary animal. If you like to choose from a range of art projects that interest you then this is the class for you. Due to the nature of this course, the places available are limited. Please note that the artists who sign up for this class also have the option to create anything that is offered in the earlier classes.

If digital art is what you love the most then you are most welcome to come on Thursdays and continue your digital art journey. There will be iPads available in class for those artists who do not have one.

Please note that there has been a time change due to daylight savings. Late classes will now start at the earlier time of 4.00pm and run until 5.30pm.
