Classes begin Monday 14 October

A Note from Ruth

Dear Parents and Artists,

I love Term 4! It is my favourite term of the year. The weather is warming up, the longer days ensure fun times in our beautiful community, the world prepares for Christmas and there is a feeling of excitement and gratitude in the air.

Every year my family looks forward to me setting up our home for Christmas. Last year I realised that I didn't have to count down the days until the first of December to set up and decorate my many Christmas trees. I could start in November! Why had I not I realised this sooner? As soon as November came around the trees were out, the garlands were draped around the stairwell, and all the many lights and decorations were carefully placed around our home. The Christmas spirit lingered in our home for two fabulous months. This year I am counting down to November 1st.

I can’t help but think that Term 4 is certainly the most wonderful time of the year. This term’s art classes reflect my excitement. Below are the themes and projects for Term 4.

xx

Ages 5-11 are recommended to join our 3:15 sessions
A late class is available on Mon, Tues and Weds for older students

A CHRISTMAS SPECIAL

Most of my favourite gifts are gifts that have been hand made. This term in preparation for Christmas the artists who sign up for this class will make three beautiful gifts for special family and friends in their lives. This class celebrates the beauty of both art and craft. The artists who sign up for this class will not only make beautiful things but will also wrap and gift tag their gifts. With carols playing and treats to nibble it’s going to be a whole lot of Christmas fun.

IT’S YOUR CHOICE

Wouldn’t it be great to attend a class that allowed you to draw, paint, build or create whatever you wanted? This small late class allows you to do just that. Paint like the old art masters, build an enchanted place from a favourite book, create a work of art using a variety of mixed media, use watercolour paints to paint an incredibly detailed scene or sketch the most extraordinary animal. If you like to choose from a range of art projects that interest you then this is the class for you. Due to the nature of this course, the places available are limited. Please note that the artists who sign up for this class also have the option to create anything that is offered in the earlier classes.

TERRARIUMS

A few years ago one of our amazing artists at Marbles (Kathryn) asked if we could make beautiful terrariums. We did them and they were a huge success! With Christmas just around the corner I thought it was time to create our own terrariums again. Learn how to draw and paint different plants and then choose your favourite ones to use in your own terrarium. Then create a magical world of creatures and buildings to live amongst your plants. Drawing, painting, planting, model making and clay moulding are just some of the wonderful things this class will be doing this term. Your terrariums will make fabulous Christmas gifts.

BOOK ART

I am so excited to be offering this incredible project to our younger artists. In the past this has been an art experience only offered to our later classes however I have noticed how focused, mature and capable our 3.15pm artists are. In this class we take beautiful old books and transform them into works of art. Set on top of carefully folded pages every artist will build their own favourite scene using old pages from books. Castles, forests and under the sea are just some of the scenes the artists can make. It’s going to be a spectacular project.

CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS

Lets decorate our trees with beautiful handmade ornaments. Last year we found the most divine wooden baubles and tree decorations, we couldn't wait to paint our favourite designs and write meaningful words on them. This year the children will make a range of bespoke wooden decorations for their homes, these really are the most beautiful things. With carols playing and treats to be nibbled it’s going to be another afternoon of Christmas fun!
